Excel in electrical engineering technology

In this course you will gain the technical know-how to provide sound advice to clients in a sales environment. You will also learn about variable speed drives, analogue and digital electronics, programmable logic controllers and renewable energy (design and application). On graduating from this course you will have the skills and knowledge to design, validate and evaluate electrical systems and equipment. Engineer your own future

Develop the practical and technical skills to design and draft various engineering applications and drawings for transport systems, pipelines, dams, bridges, high-rise buildings and plant, mining and industrial water and waste management facilities. Our courses will teach you how to set up machinery to enable the manufacture of engineering products, repair and replacing components, design and manufacture modifications to existing component parts, maintain plant and equipment, and construct and commission work

Entry requirements

  • English Language Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other - For a list of all English Language test accepted by TAFE Queensland International
  • Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. For more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.
  • Or Successful completion of Certificate III in Engineering

Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. Resources required

It is recommended that students have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for students to use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

Placement

Some qualifications require students to participate in vocational placement to successfully complete and achieve their TAFE Queensland award. If vocational placement is a course requirement it will be organised by your School/Faculty and you will be provided with all the information you need to prepare. Remember you are responsible for ensuring you have met all the requirements to participate in vocational placement.

If your application is successful, we will send you an Offer of Place letter. To accept it and secure your place in your chosen program, you will need to:

After you have accepted your Offer of Place, you will receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and with your CoE you can apply for your student visa. You will need to arrange your student visa before you come to Australia.

Please note that International Orientation day is compulsory. Students must attend the International Orientation Day before commencing their studies with TAFE Queensland.

Orientation

At the beginning of each semester orientation events are hosted across TAFE Queensland locations.

TAFE Queensland recommends you arrive two weeks prior to your course start date to allow time to organise and settle into your accommodation and prepare for your studies.

International Orientation which is usually conducted the week before study commences will help answer many of your questions about studying with TAFE Queensland. This comprehensive orientation covers many important topics including
