This course will provide you with the necessary skills to work in the engineering industry as a general mechanical engineering tradesperson such as a fitter and turner. You will gain the skills required for employment as a Higher Engineering Tradesperson or a Special Class Engineering Tradesperson - Level II. A career in this field may involve the setting up of machinery, repairing and replacing components, designing and manufacturing modifications to existing components parts, maintenance of plant and equipment, and construction and commissioning work. Since I was a kid I always liked cars. My favourite thing I've learnt is engines. Engines are like the hearts of cars; they are very complicated and precise. TAFE Queensland gives us the opportunity to do practical placement in a real workshop. As a student here, you get to do lots of really great things rather than just sitting inside reading books.
